Xinjiang comfrey
Xinjiang comfrey (alias Xinjiang soft comfrey) is distributed in the north and south slopes of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang and the west of Tibet, as well as in Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, former Soviet Union Central Asia, Siberia and other places. It grows in mountainous gravel sunny slopes, alluvial fans, grasslands and meadows at an altitude of 2500-4200 meters. The habitat has strong radiation, large temperature difference between day and night, and relatively good vegetation. Xinjiang is the main producing area of Xinjiang comfrey in my country, mainly produced in the Bayanbulak mountain area of Hejing County in Bayingoleng Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture; Kuqa, Baicheng, Wensu, Wushi, Aheqi and other counties and cities in Aksu region; Kirgiz Artush, Wuqia and other places in the autonomous prefecture; Bole, Jinghe, hot springs and other places in the Boertala Mongolian autonomous prefecture; Ili Kazakh autonomous prefecture used to have more distribution, but the resources were significantly reduced due to over-excavation.
Xinjiang comfrey (Arnebia euchroma (Royle) Johnst) is a perennial herb, 15-35cm high, and the whole plant is covered with white rough hairs. The roots are purple and twisted. Stem single or dichotomized from base, basal leaves clustered, lanceolate or strip-shaped, 5-25cm long, 0.5-3cm wide, entire; cauline leaves alternate, shaped like basal leaves and vary Scorpioid cymes are densely grown on the top of the stem, nearly capitulum; bracts are leaf-like, linear-lanceolate, with bristles; calyx is short tube-shaped, 5-lobed; corolla is long tube-shaped, lavender or purple, ca. l0mm, 5-lobed, lobes elliptic, throat and base smooth and glabrous; stamens 5, inserted in the middle of corolla tube, filaments very short or absent; ovary 4-parted, style slender, stigma globose. The nutlets are bony, broadly ovoid, about 4mm long, light brown, with verrucous protrusions. , 1000-grain weight 9-11g. The flowering period is from June to July, and the fruiting period is from August to September.
